Welcome Letter from SAPHA President
Dear SAPHA colleagues,
I hope your decade has been off to a great start! I am immensely honored to be elected as your President to work with both the continuing and newly elected board members of SAPHA. I would like to thank our immediate past President, Memoona Hasnain, and returning board members: Shipra Singh, Shibani Ray‐Mazumder, Samira Khan, Saman Aziz, Trushna Rao-Nadig, and S. Shahrukh Hashmi for their leadership. Thank you to our interns and to our outgoing board members, Simran Kaur and Priya Thaker, for their dedication. I extend a warm welcome to our new board members: Anto Paul, Gayatri Malhotra, Nehanda T., Paroma Mitra, Supriya Misra, and Tauhid Mahmud.
For the past 20 years, SAPHA has contributed to raising awareness, increasing education, and highlighting research in the field of South Asian public health. We are grateful for your collaboration, encouragement, and engagement with us to advance our mission to improve the health and well‐being of South Asian individuals, families, and communities in the US. With your continued support, we can achieve more in 2020.
On behalf of the Board, I strongly encourage you to share your ideas on how we can serve you and invite your colleagues to join us. All are welcome at SAPHA! As a SAPHA member, you will have voting rights, the eligibility to run for the SAPHA Board of Directors and chair a SAPHA committee.
I am honored to be serving in this position. Together with the board, I look forward to advocating for our mission and building long‐lasting partnerships for our community. As always, if you have any questions please reach out to us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to hearing how we can be of help to you!
Wishing you all success and peace in 2020.
